Our History and Our Future

Our President, Don O'Dwyer, founded the company in 1996.  Raven Bay is the third successful company that Don has founded.

Raven Bay is a culmination of Don’s past experiences, education, community and passion for technology.

The name Raven Bay was inspired by a weekend at the cabin, where on a lazy afternoon Raven’s dotted the sky, effortlessly gliding in a mosaic over a BC bay, making the idea of flight look easy.  It represented the ideal of pursuing mastery in your craft while in harmony with your environment.

Data Management is often Mysterious and Misunderstood

Ravens are also slightly mysterious and misunderstood. They are one of Canada’s most majestic birds and integral to the landscape and environment.  As young birds they travel in flocks, but later mate for life, with each mated pair defending a territory. Some remarkable feats of problem solving have been observed in the species, leading to the belief that the Raven is highly intelligent.

The Raven has long played a part in mythology, folklore, art and literature in Canada and throughout the World.

The bay in turn representes a safe harbor - a place that is unique and protected.  It is the ideal metaphor for how Raven Bay helps our clients store, protect and manage their data.

That philosophy led to success, which began with Don consulting to 1 client. Within the first few months Raven Bay grew from 1 employee to 4.  Within a couple years we doubled in size.  Today, 5 years later, we are team of 20 professionals and growing steadily with a client base of 60 that reaches across Canada.
